There and Back in Three Days

After a long and exciting journey, via Tashkent where we sat on the runway for 6 hours, we were met by Dilvado, the VSO driver who took us to our accommodation. Shortly after arrival Alison tripped and fell breaking her right elbow, fracturing the head of radius. To cut a long story short VSO medically evacuated us so that Alison could get treatment in the UK. We are now back in Pathhead, very disappointed that the placement has had to be postponed. We hope to return when Alison is declared medically fit, probably 6-8 weeks.
We will continue with the blog in the new year when we will have returned to Dushanbe.

2 days and counting!

Final photo before we all go our seperate ways.  The freezer, fridge and cupboards have been raided.  Just heading out for final fairwell lunch in town.  As the famous Tajikistan poet Rumi says: 'I have five things to say but i can't remember any of them!  It's called bewilderment' (or dementia, depending on your age).

Please note: Moses can't be with us as he's working so we've pasted him into the picture (Moses, hope you don't mind).

Christmas in November

Four days before we head off to Dushanbe and we are having the girls and boy round for Christmas dinner -turkey and all the trimmings!  Bags are slowly getting packed and we can't wait to be on our way.  All feels a bit surreal at the moment (as does this whole blogging thing!) and we have that wierd 'we know something big is about to happen' feeling in our tummies.

The next chapter is an exciting one!
